Back on my blog after a long time away. In 2011, Tom filed for divorce - unexpectedly. I have spent a long time re-inventing myself. I am still working at the Jupiter Branch Library. I travel to Richmond, VA, and Carrboro, NC, twice yearly to visit family.

South Florida Fair

What beautiful weather for my first visit to the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach. Tom and I manned the ARRL booth with members from other clubs. The booth is in a not so heavily traveled area, but is was interesting. It would be better for the public if a radio or two were present, but I'm not the organizer, so it sufficed.

My German Shepherds and I supported the AKC/4-H exhibit at the Florida State Fair in Tampa from 1987 to 1992. Asche, Amos, and Shasta all met the public in the GSD booth. What fun. The 4-H club members did a great job with their dog projects, too.

Christmas 2010 Projects completed

I will be adding to this list as the year progresses.

January 2010
Completed 1 pair of socks for Puja - Yarn used - Schoeller + Stahl Fortissima Corori Disco Socka

Majestics High Voltage (Heidi) enjoys her Christmas present - 2009

Knitting start for 2010

I have finished project #1 for Christmas 2010 - a pair of socks for Puja. The yarn is Schoeller + Stahl Fortissima Colori Disco Socka. This yarn has a shiny, silver thread combined with the wool/nylon, which creates sparkles in the finished sock. The shine isn't obvious in the photo, but sparkles as the socks move.

Changes in 2010

The new work schedule begins in January. I am off Sunday and Monday again - a return to my original schedule. It is the schedule I prefer. Sunday is a more reflective and relaxing day, and I can attend church again. Maybe reflective and relaxing is only a state of mind, but it is somehow real to me. Janurary 2 will be my first day on the new schedule.

Today I cast on for a pair of socks for me. I have been knitting for everyone else, so it is my turn. I will post a photo when the self-striping pattern begins to emerge. I like to knit socks during my breaks at work.

I also cast on and knit several inches of the On the Square Shawl by Lisa Carnahan (Lisa Knits). This project will be reserved for home knitting, since the mohair might be damaged at work.

More later....

Knitting 2009

Last night I finished my Christmas knitting. The socks for Meghan look good. I am wondering if I need to knit this size for everyone, the sock wasn't too small for me. It could be the yarn. I will have to reconsider this for 2010 knitting.

The socks for 2009 - ready to go to their new homes.
Recipients of these socks (clockwise starting at 12:00 o'clock): Meghan, Ethan, Ethan, Ethan, Puja, Puja (black pair), Puja, Heather, Heather, Heather, Helen.
